Globally recognised games industry event series Pocket Gamer Connects has announced a new addition to its conference roster with the debut of its B2B summit in Shanghai. Held at the luxurious Pudong Shangri-La, the one-day summit is strategically scheduled for July 30, one day ahead of Asia’s leading games event, ChinaJoy.
Themed around leading tracks ‘East Meets West’ and ‘West Meets East’, the event is a continuation of PG Connects’ broader vision of uniting the global games industry. As such the event serves as a gateway for global games companies into the Chinese sector, the world’s largest and most lucrative games market according to leading games data company NewZoo.
Supporting the regional games industry, Pocket Gamer Connects Summit Shanghai also serves as a runway for China’s industry professionals and companies looking to build impactful connections in order to take off globally.
“China is the world’s largest games market, and it’s long been a goal of ours to bring our Pocket Gamer Connects community to Shanghai,” said Steel Media COO Dave Bradley. “Games are a truly global phenomenon, so after building successful events across Europe, the US, and the MENA region, expanding into Asia is a natural next step for us. We’re excited to see what new connections and insights will emerge from the sessions and networking in Shanghai. And this first PGC Summit should be the perfect launchpad for industry professionals heading to the huge ChinaJoy event too.”
“I’m so excited to be heading back to Shanghai – I used to attend ChinaJoy every year and we’ve run networking events there previously, but this marks our first outing in mainland China as we continue our mission to support, celebrate and connect the global games industry,” added Steel Media CEO Chris James. “PGC Summit Shanghai is designed as a friendly onboarding to both the Chinese market and ChinaJoy itself. As well as connecting you with leading companies in a relaxed English-speaking environment, we’ve arranged special partnerships to facilitate e-visas for conference attendees, as well as a one-day pass to ChinaJoy.”

Part of a trusted games industry brand with over a decade’s experience of international events across key hotspots like London, San Francisco, and Helsinki, PG Connects Summit Shanghai is an essential B2B conference for global and local attendees wanting to make the most of their ChinaJoy participation.
Set to welcome over 500 global games industry professionals, attendees include indie and triple-A developers, publishers, investors, tool providers, marketers, and everything in between. Among the companies coming are Tencent, Mattel163, Epic Games Store, Scopely, EA, Xiaomi, and more.
