The Future Was Served with Pizza: Museigen at BitPinas x GCrypto Pizza Day 2025

Last May 22, 2025, over 200 crypto enthusiasts gathered in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig for a celebration that was more than just about free food — it was about history, progress, and community.

Co-organized by BitPinas and GCrypto, GCash’s crypto platform, Bitcoin Pizza Day 2025 was a throwback to the first-ever real-world BTC transaction — and a major leap into where crypto is heading next.

We at Museigen.io were proud to be one of the official media partners for the event, and here’s what went down:

A 15-Year Milestone, With Pizza on the Side

This year marked the 15th anniversary of that legendary moment in 2010 when 10,000 $BTC was exchanged for two pizzas — the first real-world Bitcoin transaction.

To celebrate, attendees enjoyed free pizza, community networking, and the Satoshi Quest, a gamified booth activity hosted by Satlayer, GCrypto, and BitPinas.

Participants journeyed through Bitcoin trivia, wallet showcases, and interactive discussions, making their way through the booths while earning tokens and raffle entries — all while sharing moments online using #GCryptoPizzaDay.

Key Program Highlights

Opening Remarks – Michael Mislos, Editor-in-Chief, BitPinas

Michael set the tone for the event by emphasizing that Bitcoin Pizza Day is more than a throwback—it’s a checkpoint. He reflected on how Bitcoin has evolved from a meme into a mainstream financial tool, and how the annual celebration is a moment to ask: Where are we now? And where do we go from here?

Keynote – Luis Buenaventura, VP of GCash & Head of GCrypto

Luis shared insights on the “Buy, Borrow, Die” strategy, often used by ultra-wealthy individuals, and explained how this approach can also apply to Bitcoin. Instead of letting money lose value in traditional savings, people can build wealth through appreciating assets—like land or BTC—then borrow against them for liquidity, all while minimizing taxes. He highlighted Bitcoin’s scarcity and long-term growth potential as a modern-day tool for preserving and passing on wealth.

Talk – Franco Araneta, Community Manager, Satlayer
Franco introduced SatLayer, a restaking platform built on Babylon that unlocks Bitcoin’s liquidity and security for dApps. They also sponsored a $5 airdrop to 40 attendees, released to wallets after successfully completing the talk mechanics. Learn more about the platform at satlayer.xyz

Talk – Michael Biag, Co-Founder, CryptoBilis

Michael Biag gave a brief introduction to CryptoBilis, a platform that helps users buy, store, and spend crypto in everyday life. He also invited attendees to join the recently concluded CryptoBilis Bitcoin Pizza Day held on May 30 at Metrotent, Pasig — a community-driven event that celebrated crypto adoption in the Philippines.

A free hardware wallet was also awarded to one lucky attendee during the event.

#CryptoPH Conversations Panel

Moderated by Harry Santos, PDAX Senior Manager for Brand and Partnerships, the panel tackled the question: “Will I Make More Money on Bitcoin or Altcoins in This Cycle?

Panelists included:

Community Engagements & Giveaways

Satoshi Quest Booths – Participants made their way through booth stations hosted by Satlayer, GCrypto, and BitPinas, answering trivia, engaging in wallet demos, and earning rewards along the way.

Photo Booth + Community Mic – Attendees captured fun moments at the photo booth and were encouraged to share them on social media using the #GCryptoPizzaDay hashtag.

The Community Mic gave participants the chance to ask questions, making the experience more interactive and inclusive.

Tether, represented by its liquidity partner Mansa, sponsored a 22 $USDT giveaway for 22 lucky attendees — a meaningful reward that added excitement to the celebration and reinforced real-world utility of stablecoins.

Talks That Inspired

Throughout the event, several talks from leading builders in the Web3 space shared developments in Bitcoin, decentralized finance (DeFi), and crypto adoption in the Philippines. From infrastructure projects to community use cases, the message was clear: the future of finance is already happening — and it’s happening here.

A Community Growing Stronger

Beyond the booths, pizza, and tokens, what really stood out was the connection. People asked real questions, shared their crypto journeys, and built new relationships. It was grassroots Web3 at its finest.

From meme to mainstream, from pizza to portfolios — Bitcoin Pizza Day 2025 reminded us how far we’ve come, and how much farther we can go.
